Accessibility widget plus real code-level fixes: skip links, focus indicators, ARIA, contrast modes, screen reader. WCAG 2.1 AA / EAA / BFSG.

== Description ==

**Wave Access helps you make your WordPress site genuinely more accessible — with an elegant assistive widget for your visitors and real fixes in your markup.** Built for the European Accessibility Act (EAA, in Germany: BFSG) and WCAG 2.1 AA.

= Why not just an overlay? =

German supervisory authorities have stated clearly: overlay tools alone do not make a website legally compliant. That's why Wave Access starts where barriers are actually created — in your code — and adds the widget as a useful extra for visitors, not as a substitute.

= Assistive widget — in 29 European languages =

* Contrast modes: invert colors, monochrome, dark and light contrast, saturation
* Highlight links and headings
* Content scaling, font size, line height and letter spacing
* Screen reader mode: click any paragraph and it is read aloud
* Reading mode for distraction-free text
* Fully brandable: 4 positions, custom icon (including your own upload), accent color, panel radius — hooks into your theme via CSS variables, dark mode included
* Floating button, Gutenberg block, shortcode, and ready-made Elementor and WPBakery modules

= Real code fixes =

* Skip links for keyboard users
* Visible focus indicators
* ARIA labels and sensible tab order
* Fixes live in the markup — not in a cosmetic layer on top

= Audit tools =

* WCAG/EAA checklist with progress tracking — always know where you stand
* Alt-text audit for the media library: find images without alternative text (up to 50 images in the free version)

= Privacy first =

The plugin runs entirely on your server. It sets no cookies for visitors, loads nothing from third-party CDNs and tracks nobody.

= Wave Access Pro =

For full EAA/BFSG documentation, [Wave Access Pro](https://wavetools.io/) adds: an accessibility statement generator (German/English), PDF audit reports as proof of your efforts, unlimited alt-text audits with CSV export, widget white-labeling — and AI tools: automatic alt texts, Easy Language versions of your pages, and natural read-aloud voices with word-by-word highlighting. The optional AI features send content to the Wave Tools EU proxy for processing; everything else stays on your server.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate the plugin.
2. The widget appears in the corner of your website — it works out of the box.
3. Fine-tune under **Settings → Accessibility**: position, icon, colors, code fixes, checklist.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does Wave Access make my site automatically compliant? =

No — and be wary of anyone promising that. Wave Access fixes many barriers automatically, documents your status and guides you through the remaining steps. Full compliance also depends on your content and design.

= Is this just another overlay? =

No. The widget is one of several components. The core is code-level fixes (skip links, ARIA, focus, tab order) and audit tools with real documentation.

= Where is data processed? =

Entirely on your server. The free version makes no external requests on your website's frontend and tracks no visitors.

= Which languages does the widget speak? =

29 European languages, including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and many more. The widget follows your site language automatically.

= Does it work with my page builder? =

Yes. The floating widget works with any theme. There are also a Gutenberg block, a shortcode and native modules for Elementor and WPBakery.
