1.4.5 Images of Text

Text should be delivered as text, not as an image.

Level AA

What this means in practice

Text in images cannot be resized, read aloud, reflowed or searched. Logos and cases where presentation is essential are exempt. With web fonts there is rarely a reason left.

Normative wording

The binding text lives at the W3C. What you read here is our own faithful rendering – not a quotation.
