1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose
Fields asking for personal data must be machine-identifiable.
What this means in practice
The autocomplete attribute lets the browser recognise that a field wants a name, email or address and fill it in. That helps users with motor and cognitive impairments – and everyone else too.
